On 17 September 2021, ITAC notified interested parties that McKinnon Chain, a Division of Scaw South Africa (Pty) Ltd, had brought an anti-dumping application on ”non-articulated welded link chains. manufactured from iron or steel wire from China”, imported under tariff subheadings 7315.82.03 and 7315.82.05. McKinnon have requested the following anti-dumping duties:

There is currently a 15% normal duty on the imports of these products out of China, so if the anti-dumping duties are implemented, they would be added to the existing 15% duty.

The investigation period for determining the margins of dumping is from March 2020 to February 2021, while the investigation period for determining material injury is from March 2018 to February 2021. Interestingly, between March 2018 and February 2021, there has been a decrease in the import volumes of the subject products from China, as shown below:
