The Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (DAFF) have opened South Africa to allow imports of chicken from the Netherlands. Only poultry meat with a production date of 6 December 2019 or later will be allowed to the imported into SA.

The opening of SA to Dutch chicken is however subject to a new veterinary certificate, which has not yet been published. We will make the new certificate available as soon as it is available. However we understand a critical change is that chickens will need to have been born and reared in the Netherlands, rather than just needing to have been reared and slaughtered in the Netherlands, which was the prior requirement.
