ITAC have published guidelines, proposing an extension to the period a safeguard duty can be imposed, from the current 3 years to a possible 10 years.
Comments on the proposed guidelines are due on 15 June.
When the world’s supply chains reopen after the COVID-19 shutdown, safeguards will become an important mechanism to defend against some very unexpected trade flows. At the same time, if this instrument is not used properly, it can cause immense damage.
At present, all of the safeguard duties in place are in the steel sector, so if you are in the Downstream Steel Sector this webinar is definitely for you!
Listen to top industry experts work through the details of this proposed amendment and look at ways we can influence how this guideline is implemented. Some of the key topics to be covered include:
- A brief overview of safeguard duties
- An overview of the proposed guidelines
- Better understanding how to access safeguards when they are required (such as with COVID-19)
